hey ladies, as we come into the end of week two, I know that I have been hit with the desire to just give up. To admit that I can't make it to my word goal, and to just stop writing. I mean, it's not gonna be any good anyway, right? and i'm not going ot make it, and even if i do, then I'd have to edit it and I'll never get through that, so what's the point? the point, for me, isn't to write 50,000 words; it's not to hvae a publishable novel at the end of this all, it is to get this story out of me, onto paper. I am sharing it with a wonderful cousin of mine, as I write it, and if she alone enjoys this story, then it is worth it. even if no one else ever reads it, so long as it is on paper, and one other person has read it, then I have succeeded.
so here I am, cheering you on, encouraging you to keep on, and share your stories. And when you are ready, I would LOVE to read them. I am eagerly awaiting your tales, and look forward to discovering your worlds with you!

Bless you, Liz, this is exactly what I needed today!
Have you been reading my mind?!?
I mean, it's not gonna be any good anyway, right? and i'm not going ot make it, and even if i do, then I'd have to edit it and I'll never get through that, so what's the point?
I have to add that I don't feel good and my ear hurts *pout*
And this hit the nail on the head for me:
the point, for me, isn't to write 50,000 words; it's not to hvae a publishable novel at the end of this all, it is to get this story out of me, onto paper.
When I first started writing seriously as an adult, my thought was: if I checked this out of the library, would I keep reading or would I take it back unfinished?
(It's important to note here that I don't have to clean my plate and I don't have to read a book to the end.)
That logic kept me writing for some time. Then I came to understand that even that didn't matter -- it wasn't whether it was 'good' or readable or anything else -- it only mattered that I do it.
Ok, I feel cheered! I add my voice to the cheering section: Together we can do this!
Also I enjoy the pep talks on the wrimo site...
And I would also love to read our efforts, and would be perfectly willing to share mine, and can't wait to see yours!!!
*noticed this is post 333 and my karma is 3 -- cool*

Also had something I thought I'd note here:
I just had the thought that I should write "in voice" as in Pomegranate Juice. I'm experimenting with it and think I'll keep on.
What I want to note is that I DID NOT RETREAT! Did not go back and start re - writing.* I just started where I was and went on. No spiraling.
*Re-write per this decision may be included Nov. 29 if I need word count.

Great job Ladies! I'm *ridiculously* behind. I'm still writing. How likely is it that I'll 'win'. Bwwwahahahahahahahaha. Yeah, right. But I'm still writing.

papergrace, in my opinion so long as you keep writing than you win the owrd count isn't the most important thing to me; refusing to give up no matter what you face, that makes you a winner!

Liz, did having the deadline seem to help? Maybe you could establish one some other way, either on your own, or by having a 'due date' to submit it for editing?

well, for right now i'm continuing to write the story. I think having the deadline helped me get started, but what helped me the most was getting past the idea of "editing as I go". I have a friend overseas who is writing at about the same pace I am and her story isn't finished yet either. So we are going to be staying in touch and encouraging each other as we write. I plan to have the entire book written by mid december if I can, but will allow myself to go until the end of december. By the new year I want to be ready to begin editing.
