hey, ok so in my NaNo novel, there is a race of people that need a name. they appear to be human in all ways (they have unusual eye colours but not unheard of...very very pale blue, sea green, deep blue, reddish brown, black, the green of new leaves, ect...) but they are more closely related to Fae. They have inante abilities that we would probably call magic.
They are seperated into six clans based on the nature of their abilites; for example, there are the Water Born. They can summon and control water....and anythign water based. Like water based paint...or blood. they are typically healers, though with the ability to control blood they can be deadly.
I also have Earth Movers, which can, obviously, shift earth, stone, gems, basically anything solid found in the surface of the earth. They are able to do things like raise a citadel or castle wall overnight, leaving tunnels and caverns below a smooth and even ground. They cahn shift earth and things on the earth, like dropping a pebble into a lake, the ripples push out anything on the surface of the lake.
Then there are Wind Weavers; obviously they can summon and control wind. they an bring a tornado out of a clear sky. They can affect the protons and electrons in the atmosphere and create lightening that way. they can also hear anything whispered where the wind can go, though they have to know the voice they are listening for. They cannot hear anything spoken in a closed room.
The fourth clan are the Fire Kin; they can summon and control fire (obviously). The can create it from the heat around them, leaving a chill in the air for a moment. They can do basic first aid, ie, cautorizing a bleeding wound type thing, but typically speaking they are fighters. They also have the ability to look into the past through fire, if they have a connection to a person or place in history. It must be a personal connection. ALSO, they have the ability to walk through fire, creating flames around themselves, they can "teleport" to any location they have been before.
The fifth clan are the Night Walkers. a quote from my book
"We draw strength from the night itself. Even in daylight, when we are at our weakest, we are still typically stronger and faster than any other clan. We are also more...predatory in nature. We carry traits of the night predators; we have clearer vision, especially at night. We have better hearing, a more decisive sense of smell, and an easier time moving silently. We can walk through the woods as if we own them, and when we run, our feet always land true.
But those are not the strongest of the gifts given to the Night Walkers. We are a clan of empaths; we share the feelings of others. The emotions of those around us sing to us, and we can enhance those emotions if we choose to. We are also able to dream walk. You see, the only way Night Walkers dream, is if we share the dreams of others. We aren't supposed to step into another's dreams without an invitation. It's forbidden, considered an invasion of their privacy"
the final clan is a nature clan. I don't have a name for them yet. They have influence with both flora and fauna; they can spill life into plants, healing them and causing them to thrive. They can influence the way they grow, forming homes or walls from living plants. They can also draw the life force from a plant to heal something else. They can heal the gravest of wounds, but it causes the same damage to something else, and they are loath to cause harm to nature. They can draw the life force from a person to heal plants or animals in a given area. They can also commune with animals, and are often followed around by two or three of their favorites. The nature clan (who need a name BADLY) are very similar to the old stories of druids, and those that valued nature of people are often the cause of stories of "human sacrifice" and why blood was thought to cause fertile lands.
so that is my race, and I need a name for them, and I need a name for the last clan. anyone have any ideas???
