This is not related to writing at all, but still a lot of fun so I thought I'd share.
GISHWES stands for "greatest international scavenger hunt that the world has ever seen." Basically, a celebrity (Misha Collins, from Supernatural) decided he wanted to win a Guinness Book World Record, and this was his plan. My husband and I participated in the 2nd one, and we actually did manage to win the record for largest digital scavenger hunt (we got a certificate in the mail and everything ;D ).
It was really silly, but an incredible amount of fun. It starts in about two weeks, costs $10 (which is used for operation costs with the left over donated to charity). How it works is international teams have one week to do as many items as they can on a list of pictures, videos, and online activities. I was camera shy, and so I only filmed other people doing stuff (although I did end up in a few pictures, lol). There is a prize for the winning team (a vacation somewhere), but for me participating and the Guinness Book Record was reward enough.
Here is a compilation video of the videos we filmed (most of the items were only pictures, but I don't have them laid out with instructions, so they won't make sense):
I made a team called weequashing (spear fishing for eels in a canoe by torchlight...I had to come up with something and it was the first inane thing that popped into my head that seemed vaguely related to a ridiculous scavenger hunt, lol) . Anyone is welcome to join. Each team has fifteen members, and we have five so far (random people are assigned at the end of the period for the sake of fairness if we have less than that).
I can send invites to anyone who wants to be on our team. The website if anyone wants to check it out is here: www.gishwhes.com/index.php
