I thought it would be fun if we all listed what we are going to write, and even if we don't have a final title in mind, at least listed our nickname for our project/how we refer to it.
I'm still deciding, but should have it finalized in the next few days at most.

hey readily; i think i'm goign to work on (name a work in progress) Future of Flames; I think I posted the concept here I haven't even started prep work for november, and I'm scared, so scared of failing completely (and failure for me woudl be not being able to make myself start). I'm not too stressed about HOW MUCH I write throught November, but I am stressed about making myself write every day. I want to do that, i thinnk it is important for me to do so, to schedule it in, so it becomes a part of my day. But I also want to make writing daily a part of my EVERYDAY routine. So, my plan is, by the end of November to have developed a habit of writting daily and then maintain that habit. I'm just not sure how to get started, ya know?

;D
I'm glad we've found something to do that feels urgent, but really has no consequences for "failure". It will be fun, we'll feel great if we "win" but there's really no reason to feel bad if we don't. I'm excited.
Liz, I'm with you. I need to schedule writing into my everyday life even if I don't participate in something like this, and I have no idea how to do it. If I remember correctly so far my highest achievement in Daily Writing Challenge is four consecutive days. Four. Um... yeah. So... November is more than seven times as long as four days. Whether I "win" at novel writing or not, I will have gained something by trying, even if I only manage to write for half that time.
I keep changing my mind about what I want to write. At first I was taking the whole thing sort of seriously, really into writing the Styx book, even took some books out of the library for research. Lately I've been less serious (I think hanging out on the NaNoSite where people are all excited to tell you about their book about aliens kidnapping famous cartoon characters who turn out to be werewolves involved in a time traveling romance which is only possible because of numerology which was taught to the MC's little sister by bisexual biker angels who really are Angels and run a tea shop in what seemed like ancient Japan but was really a tucked away corner of the Mall of America will do that to you.) and I'm thinking the less I worry about having a 'real' book at the end the more likely I'll succeed at churning out 50K words.
So... I don't know. Still thinking about it. There are all sorts of silly 'Adopt a Plot' or 'Shoehorn a wisecracking talking Owl into your novel' games and challenges on the NaNo forums that might be fun to do with a totally nonsense book.

Still plan on the Styx thing. Not doing any prep whatsoever. I'm actually looking forward to the experience of just diving in and swimming at will.
When I first started writing -- this time -- I did that, just had a few pictures in mind and just ... went.
more later brain drain

I haven't spent any time on the nano forums, but it sounds like an interesting place I'm with Freedom on the whole just jumping in bit! I'm still struggling with picking a project. I feel like I'm narrowing it down but I'm not there yet.

It is getting narrowed down, and then a new idea will jump into the mix.
OA is out, I'm just not prepared enough to invent a whole new genre, I think I'll still tinker with that idea, just not on a rush deadline.
Styx is still on the table, though I'm coming up blank right now, I wish I'd jotted down some of the ideas that it inspired in the first place. My memory is not what it was.
Still thinking of taking one of my blurbs and moving forward with it. Not sure which one.
I might still be a 'pantser' for my first try "by the seat of my pants" as it were.
New idea that has popped into my head: A new continent appears--no, it doesn't rise out of the ocean or similar, doesn't occupy a known area--space changes to make room for it. Maps are rendered out of date, calculations and satellite trajectories are fubar'd. There are serious practical repercussions on the modern world, science, religion etc... in addition to the obvious 'Howdy there new neighbors!' political scramble. {space/time} {anthropology} {true to modern day or no? near future? historical fantasy? Hmmm...}

So... any time I tell someone I'm trying NaNoWriMo they ask what I'm writing, and when I mention either of these plot ideas (or both) I get a totally glazed expression/frozen smile followed by an "Oh, that sounds nice..." It is somewhat discouraging, I must admit.

So, here's what has come out so far: Citrus Expired Milk Lost Time Poverty (and some squalor) A creeper neighbor
I have no idea. It is coming though, and that is something.
