Scrivener is DEEEEEEluxe wordprocessing. I've just downloaded the free nanowrimo trial version, good from whenever you download it until December 7th, so that you can use it for all of November, plus a little time to get used to it first, plus a little time to work on your book or export it if you choose not to buy the software at the end. If you make your 50K mark and 'win' nano it's 50% so somewhere around $20/25 I think. There's a 2 hour demo/tutorial that I haven't started yet. The Verwrimos that I met on Saturday said it really is good. www.literatureandlatte.com/nanowrimo.phpEDITED TO ADD: There are several other demos of processors on the site that let you use them a little before and after nano instead of the standard 30 day trial. I didn't really shop around between them, Yarny sounds cool too, if someone tries one of the others we should compare notes before buying! There are links to this and other goodies in a drop down menu on the official nano site. Edited again to add: www.nanowrimo.org/en/offers

Scrivener it intense. Userfriendly? Not so much. Once I learn it I bet it will be really cool but there are some troubles with the way the tutorial runs:
Please select the next file entitled "Nonexistent until you realize the whole menu is collapsed and you've been hunting for this file for six minutes when all you needed to do was expand something, even though that isn't part of the instructions."
