I thought I'd try a haiku. It's a surprisingly challenging structure.
Red gold flowing hair Bejewelled young prince in velvet Pain shadows wan face

Thanks Liz I gather haiku are traditionally more about nature etc, but sitting in the dullest of dull meetings, dull even by the standards of my job the other day, I started writing some to break the monotony. I write shorthand, which is apparently quite an unusual skill these days so if anyone took any notice of me, I hoped I would appear to be jotting notes. How I do need to find a different job!

i've never actually learned shorthand, but i think my mom knows it. or she did at one point. see i homeschooled so taking notes wasn't really a priority, but i did attent several youth conferances. so i actually invented my own kind of shorthand. i used my own abreviations, skipped letters or words, and occationally used a symbol to represent a word or group of words. it was really fun! i never thought of doing that while in a meeting as a way to get away with writing for fun (though i will admit i tended to get most of my inspiration for poetry/song lyrics sitting in church during the pastors sermon. most people did assume i was taking notes while in truth i didn't really hear much of what he said at all!!!)
